Zusammenfassung: | eng: The museum is a traditional place of mediating culture resp. cultural heritage. Including a wide public into a (cultural) communicative process is one of its main tasks - a normative idea between educational claims and mission. But do exhibitions actually realize this idea? Or: How do organized forms of museum communication contribute to open cultural knowledge for the populace? How does social reality of mediating culture by exhibitions look like?, that's what present study is asking for. Part 1 begins with a clearifying and defining of essential terms connected with museum exhibitions' communication and also introduces functions of exposing in society. Part 2 focuses sociological aspects of exhibition communication: social barriere-phenomenons and (communication) gaps at the one hand and the attempt to bridging the gap by organized forms of interpersonal and media didactics at the other. Part 3 finally explores in which way textcommunicative exhibition media do include the (wide) public in a knowledge gaining communication process; readability, one main influence on the reader's understanding varying with media competence and so far with the educational level of the recipient, thereby becomes an indicator of exclusive target group strategies and conditions of information inequity. The most important findings of this study are that textcommunicative media of museum exhibitions tend to favour recipients on a high(er) educational level, that means with high media competence resp. reading facility. For the simple reason, that exhibition texts do not guarantee readability for less educated people, the idea of 'cultural education for everyone' therefore is undermined. |
