Zusammenfassung: | eng: Mechanical engineers graduating from technical high schools and having received an ordinary fulltime (i.e., during the day) or a special (i.e., evening courses) course of studies hardly get employed full- time in only one area of enterprise, as based on this study concerning pilots (n=813). Nevertheless, about one fifth of them are still engaged in activities of design and for processing. However, they engage more and more frequently and more and more success- fully also in other types of activities in the field of engineering. Concerning their training at technical high schools, they consider the instruction in the (a) theoretical subjects of engineering as rather satisfactory, while appraising electronic data processing, electrical engineering, electronics and technical (engineering) English as less satisfactory; (b) the practical training, the basic training and the training at the workshops relating to mechanics, as satisfactory; installation, the processing of plastics, the workshops relating to electrical technology, as unsatisfactory; and (c) generally, the subjects touching general education, as rather unsatisfactory. Mechanical engineers graduating from technical high schools would like to get especially an intensive teaching of basic technical subjects, electronic data processing, (auto) computer-aided design, and also technical English. In addition, the teaching of cognitive and affective skills, which are presupposed more and more often by enterpreneurs, is demanded. The limited employment of didactic teaching elements at technical high schools, which is limited of frontal teaching without the use of media, of practical exercises and of individual works, allows a conclusion arguing for a very poor teacher training in didactics. |
