Zusammenfassung: | eng: Segmented labor markets are defined by barriers of entry in certain protected and highly paid jobs. The barriers to these jobs may be the results of labour market institutions - such as trade unions or governmental regulation and licensing - or in the form of the amorphous barriers of gender discrimination in labour markets. In this dissertation the different mechanism, which keep persons generally and in Austria in a certain segment of the labour market, will be analyzed and explained by sociological and economic theories (like the human capital theory, the search theory, the principal-agent-approach, the labeling approach or the concept of social, cultural and economic capital by Pierre Bourdieu). In chapter 8 I try to connect the theoretical remarks with an empirical survey about the situation of students, who actually pass or who have passed a night-school for technical professions. These persons have been asked to answer a questionnaire about the emotional stress and the costs caused by the school-attendance and their professional position during and after the course. The costs and the possible benefits of the school- attendance will be compared. |
