| Zusammenfassung: | eng: My doctoral thesis is about reading, in particular about the learning of reading in primary school. Nowadays our children are not so good readers as they were several years ago. Is this the fault of schools or are there other reasons? The Austrian primary school is able to teach children how to read, but primary school is not able to transmit motivation. Only with joy and motivation our children will become good readers. In the empirical part of my dissertation I have done interviews with more than 600 children attending primary school. The result will give answers to many questions and hypotheses, which have been asked and stated in my work. Finally, it is school and all other influences which are involved in the deterioration of children's reading abilities. |
