| Zusammenfassung: | eng: Based on theories of symbolic interactionism and on labeling approach an example of criminalization is given below, following the life history of one single individual. The ideographical approach contends that it is scientifically valid and methodologically correct to study the behavior of one human being and to perceive it not only as a representative of a group, but also as an independent totality, from whom generalizations may be drawn. The study is methodically based on qualitative social science, thus aiming at the understanding of social behavior, not quantifying or classifying behavioral patterns. The biography is based on a series of narrative interviews and also gives an insight into the everyday life of a specific criminal subculture inside and outside the prison. The criminal career lasted fifty years, starting in the twenties. So it was one more object of this biographical study to show and to understand, how social change influenced the development of the particular criminal career. On the other hand the approach tries to investigate how social change was perceived by the single individual during his life time. |
